Your Website Could Be Losing Clients: Fix it in 5 Simple Steps
(so you can finally stop worrying about your website and start welcoming new clients.)
No coding. No stress. Just easy edits to help your small business make a bigger splash in the search engine pool!
Your website should be making you money. But does it?
Is it bringing in the clients you want? Creating the authority you deserve?
Before you start thinking about a total redesign, let’s try something easier. If you're a busy small business owner, these quick fixes should help your website work harder for you.
These changes can help you:
✅ Show up in searches
✅ Build trust with visitors
✅ Make it easier for people to say YES to working with you
1. Make Your Headline Speak to Your Ideal Client
Why It Matters:
Your homepage headline is the first thing visitors see. In five seconds or less, they should know exactly who you help and how you help them.
Quick Fix:
Look at your homepage headline. Is it vague, like “Welcome to my website” or “Helping you succeed”? If so, make it clear and specific:
Skip this: “Skincare Provider”
Make it shine: “Premier Esthetician for women looking for a glow-up that lasts”
Action Step: Rewrite your headline to be specific, results-driven, and client-focused.
2. Add a Clear Call-to-Action (CTA) on Every Page
Why It Matters:
If visitors don’t know what to do next, the’ll leave. Ask them to book a call, download a freebie or check out your services.
Quick Fix:
Every page should have one clear CTA (and no, just “Contact Me” in the menu isn’t enough). Instead of a generic button, try:
✅ “Book a Free Strategy Call”
✅ “Grab your Free Website Audit Today!”
✅ “Book a Free Zoom Skincare Consult!”
Action Step: Go through your site and make sure each page tells visitors exactly what to do next.

3. Make Sure Your Website Works on Mobile
Why It Matters:
More than 60% of website traffic comes from mobile devices. If your site is hard to read, slow to load, or messy on a phone, visitors won’t stick around.
Quick Fix:
✔ Pull up your website on your phone and a tablet and start counting. How quickly does it load?
✔ Check font size. If people have to pinch and zoom, it’s too small.
✔ Make sure buttons are easy to tap and actually GO somewhere. A broken link is even more frustrating when you’re on the go!
Action Step: Test your website on mobile and fix at least one thing to improve readability and navigation. Bonus points if you find two!
4. Speed It Up (Because Slow Websites Lose Clients)
Why It Matters:
A slow site makes people leave before they even see what you offer. Google also penalizes slow websites, so you’ll show up lower in search results.
Quick Fix:
✔ Test your site speed for free at https://tinypng.com/analyzer
✔ If your score shows you need improvement, try:
✅ Compressing images (TinyPNG has a free tool to help you compress files)
✅ Removing unnecessary plugins or widgets
Action Step: Run a site speed test and optimize at least one thing slowing your site down. Not sure how to fix it? Book a Power Hour and we’ll do it together.
5. Make Your Contact Info Easy to Find
Why It Matters:
If potential clients can’t figure out how to reach you, they won’t. They’ll move on to the next fitness coach or nutrition counselor who makes it easy for them to make contact.
And if you have a storefront or a restaurant, please make sure your address is easy to find! There’s nothing worse than getting excited to visit a store and then realizing you can’t figure out where it is! Don’t make customers search for it.
Quick Fix:
✔ Add a contact button to your main menu
✔ Make sure your email or contact form is easy to find on your homepage
✔ If you’re a local business, include your city/state for better SEO
Action Step: Check your contact info. Can potential customers reach you in one click?
Wrapping It Up (Because Your Website Shouldn’t Be a Mystery)
Small tweaks can lead to big changes, and your website doesn’t need a total overhaul to start pulling its weight. Start with just one of these fixes and see how it feels. Then tackle another when you’ve got the time (or the patience). Progress beats perfection every time.
Stop ignoring the things that aren’t working and start fixing what you can. One clear headline. One stronger CTA. One less reason for people to click away.
Do one thing today. Then another tomorrow. Because after all, your website should be working as hard as you do.
